Clam Stressed????

Do you know how when you might move your corals around in the tank or accidentally bump them, they will generate a mucus coat that leaks off of them in a stringy substance?

Well, I notice a similar situation with the outer edges of the mantle on my Crocea. The "stringy substance" is much more fine and less noticeable than that which is produced by corals. Other than this issue, the clam looks and acts perfectly. Can this just be debris from the tank, or may it be early signs of something else?

Thanks,
Chris

if the clam is acting normal i would just blow off the slime. if it continues then i would start to look for things like pyramid snails or other things.

Re: Clam Stressed????

Mine slimed a lot when I got it and I asked the same question. It would come mostly from the bottom and a little at the top edges. It took a couple months to really get cozy and it doesn't slime anymore. I took a turkey baster and blew it off everyday.

o by extension, ablutions can refer to a collection of regular activities taken to produce physical cleanliness, including washing but also tasks like oral hygiene, and shaving.
* Ritual washing for the purpose of ritual purification:
o Wudu and Ghusl: Two Islamic acts of washing parts of the body using water
o Ablution in Christianity
+ Ablutions (Episcopal)
o Ritual washing in Judaism
o Misogi: A Shinto practice of purification
