Re: Let's see some clams!

If you like Terri we could try and figure out what it was that went wrong. If you have an established mature aquarium with the proper lighting then i would assume it was a chemical issue that you can work out quickly. Could you post your prams, (ca++ , alk, ph, salinity and temp)?

I feel your pain. Just don't give up. Given the right conditions these critters can live a loonngggg time (which means they CAN get big too). Frank hit right on the point there. We can probably figure out relatively accurately what your tank will/wont support and go from there. Hang in there!!

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Thanks Barb, Love the Purple BTW

That tank is a 180G,.. 6 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot. It's my new SPS tank, they all transfered from a 125G about 2 months ago.

Re: Let's see some clams!

Well, I looked and looked and I don't have a clam but I found this one wandering around looking lost so I thought I would give him the opportunity to become a star on the clam page.

Thanks Frankie!

That teardrop Maxima is actually dead I got a new clam from IL when I was up there and set it next to the Maxima I had for ~3 years and they both died about 3 weeks later No warning,.. nothing,.. one day it had a little pinched mantle, next day dead. I figure it was some sort of bacterial infection I brought into the tank.

Tonight!!!

I had the same thing happen to the first and only teardrop I purchased 5 or 6 years ago. When teardrops still cost and arm and a leg... I was ticked to say the least.

Re: Let's see some clams!

I will have them in the morning sometime. I wanted the new max to get acclimated first. Since i added the ca++ reactor there has been some serious signs of growth also on the clams. I will get some shots of the rims also.
