Re: New Clams

clams shouldn't be target fed anyway, it can clog their delicate gills. Bowl feeding is 1 way of feeding baby clams. Add enough phyto to green the water and let the clam clear it for 20-30 min. Another way is cutting the top of a liter bottle off and sitting that over the clam. Add the phyto to the top and screw the cap back on. Let it feed and remove.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Re: New Clams

Thanks Witty!
I think that I'll try cutting back my feedings to twice a week, and see what happens with the little guy. He has been growing, and my larger clams grow like weeds, but I really would like to cut down on adding so much "foodstuff" everyday.

Other than color loss, are there other health signs that I should be watching out for when I do this? I expect that the rate of growth will slow down (probably a good thing with some of the biger clams), but other than slowed growth/color loss is there something tell-tale that I should be watching out for?

Thanks Witty!
Dean
