| Tubeworm | Crocea Clam...Can I Keep One? Would I be able to keep this clam with a 150 watt HQI? I want to keep this type of clam when my tank matures, its barely at 3 months right now. The tank is 16 inches deep and i would be keeping it at the top since I have a flat rock on there. My calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium are pretty good since most of the back is starting to get covered in corraline algae. I would appreciate everyones suggestions. Thanks in advance. |

| Manta Ray | Re: Crocea Clam...Can I Keep One? With that lighting, you should be fine. I would recommend placing the clam on the sandbed, on top of a piece of rock until it attaches and then place the rock/clam at the top. You will definitley need to watch your calcium.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Crocea Clam...Can I Keep One? Mine does fine w/150w 10k halides. It is about 2/3 of the way up in my 18in deep tank. Keep a close watch on you calcium and alk and make sure the tank has stabilized before getting a clam. They do better in a well established system.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Crocea Clam...Can I Keep One? Depending on the lighting the clam came from you may or may not need to acclimate it to your lighting. It is best to let them clam attach to either a clam halfshell or a flat piece of rock. This can be done best if you sit the clam on the rock intended for it to be on and small rock rubble placed around the clam to keep it upright. Given good water params the clam should attach right away and then depending on lighting the clam is good to go.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Crocea Clam...Can I Keep One? squamosa's would be fine too. The derasa and squamosa are both sand bed dwellers. Maxima and crocea clams are rock dwellers.
