90 gal tank

I have started my 75 gal reef up. And it's going very well

Now I am getting a 90 gal tank. But for this one I want FO.
You know the kind I CAN'T keep in the reef. There are so many to choose from. But I have to say that my fav would be the lionfish.
Can a lionfish be kept in a tank this size?
I wanted a lionfish forever they are so pretty!

Or any one out there have any ideas for this tank? I'm open for ideas on just about anyt fish for this tank.
I'm picking it up tomorrow!!

I know I don't want an eel. Afraid it would slither out and my dogs might try and eat it LOL.

Re: 90 gal tank

I would go with a dwarf lionfish, that way you could keep some other fish with it and not worry about them becoming lunch... also, I think a volitan lion might get too big for a 90.

Some of my non-reef-safe favorites include the dogface pufferfish, niger trigger, huma huma trigger, and some of the non-reef-safe angelfish (though again I think a 90 might be too small for a queen/imperator angel).

Re: 90 gal tank

The triggers are also a fav of mine
I was debating on either a lionfish OR a trigger.
Could a Trigger be kept with a dwarf lion?
I thought maybe a trigger would eat the lion's fins.

Thanks for the response!

Re: 90 gal tank

I had a volitan lion in my reef "125 Gal" till he got the size of a basket ball. He now resides in a 300 Gal at a local casino cared for by a friend of mine. They are reef safe with the exception of anything that fits in their mouth is going to be dinner. I would add a dwarf lion now except my hippo tang is a 6" fin nipping machine! They are very docile and don't swim much except to eat. I think a 90 gallon would be OK "IMO" if it were lightly stocked. Some of the fish Travis mentioned would be excellent choices. Do some research and decide, Lions are intelligent wonderful pets. They are very interesting and aware of everything going on around them. Mine would get exited when I was preparing his dinner 20 feet from the tank. He always had an eye on me. Observant intelligent animal "for a fish"

Also, having a tank with these kind of fish you cant be afraid of frequent water changes

Re: 90 gal tank

I vote for a lion fish instead of a trigger. They're just prettier
