Need help on setup....

Wow,

Been over a year since I have started a topic here, originally it was my intentions of setting up my tank as a full blown reef tank, but the problem is my job can have me transferred at a moments notice. So I don't want to be in fear of spending all this money setting up this reef tank to find out I have to tear it down shortly afterwards.

I do want to set this this tank up, I figure the best way for me now is fish only with live rock. So this is where I need your help...

The tank is a 110 gallon tall tall tank. If I remember the dimensions its 48x18x30.

I am at a lost on a good filteration setup for this tank. It is not drilled. For a fish only setup, what are some recommendation you may have?

I have talked to many glass companies in the area and they can drill the tank if I choose, although they don't gaurentee it won't crack when they do it.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Chad

Welcome back Chad!

Hummm... don't drill it without a guarantee.. JMO.

Filtration? Lots of live rock and the biggest, bestest skimmer you can find, carbon & weekly water changes.

What type of fishes are you thinking about getting?

Thanks for the quick replies;

Fish: I am still debating on what kind to get -- possibly some firefish, Yellow Watchman goby, Coral Beauty, I like the banghaii Cardinals (sp?) -- Fish along those lines.

Can I keep some small inverts like mushrooms and star polyps -- or are they going to require some more equipment.

Gina; I was thinking of adding a sump, I can have one made quite cheap from a co-workers father who owns a plastics / acrylic company.

Thanks for the help

Chad

Uh Oh =- we've now got the hook ups on cheap custom sumps! :-) j/k

as far as mushrooms and polyps - what is your lighting set up going to be - if you arent looking for clams or SPS, and only want polyps and mushrooms, you can get away with PC lighting....

I'm sure they would appreciate any type of business... Just let me know what your looking for and I could get you a price quote!! ;-)

Not looking for any SPS or Clams, I was thinking of PC or maybe a PC Metal Halide combo incase I do know I am going to be in one location for awhile and do have the opportunity to set up a reef tank...
