| Bryozoan | clown trigger hello again guys. thanks for the help in the past. i have two questions. one is that my clown comes to the top often now and it seems to me like he tries to get air from the top. he has been doing this for a few days now but the rest of the fish arn't. i checked my water and it seems ok.it might be at .1 mg/l . can someone lead me in the right direction on this one? the other question is that i have a hair algea problem. its not bad, but i want to fix it before it becomes a big problem. tanks! |

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Well, as far as the algae is concerned are you using RO/DI water. Algae will grow as a result of excess nutrients. I have had very good luck in FO tank with using phosban or rowa phos and cheaper products like APH Phos zorb to remove excess phosphates and reduce algae if you aren't using ro water. Also make sure you have a good skimmer and change any mechanical filters very often to reduce nitrates. Those should help reduce algae...

| Regular Guy Moderator ![]() | What Mike and Dave said. Unfortunately any inverts that would help with your algea may very well be on your Clown Trigger's dinner menu. ![]()

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Lucky you Craig ![]() I would not recomend adding any chemicals to the tank to treat for algae. Try siphoning out what you can, on your next water change. Make sure you nitrates are as low as possible. Then just give it some time. While physically removing what you can. you don't want the stuff dying and releasing the nutrients right back into the tank. Mike
