| Fire Coral | Well I got up this morning like every other day and fed the fish and was just looking around in the tank and there it was the corpse of one of my Peppermint Shrimp belly up in the back of the tank.. Not sure if he was killed by something in the tank or just expired, it does look like its been gnawed on, I did see one of the Emerald crabs within a inch of the shrimp...but I didnt think they would eat shrimp..if they will someone let me know and I will remove him... I dont think I have anything that I put in there that eats them, so I must have a bad hitchhiker in the LR I got... This is still under investigation and tonite I will set up a red lite and see if anything comes out to finish the kill..... |

| Fire Coral | Re: UH OH Houston we may have a prob. Nope its for sure a dead shrimp, I did have one that molted and was kinda worried but this one still has meat in his exoskeleton, and its been eaten along its belly, I wish it was a molt and I`ll continue to investigating and see if I can catch something in there.. Will an Emerald crab eat on a shrimp after its died or are they pretty much herbivores? |

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: UH OH Houston we may have a prob. It could just be "time" for it to expire. Usually if something "attacks" it will harvest the remains too. If you have it happen again soon then be concerned. ![]()

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. | Fire Coral | Re: UH OH Houston we may have a prob. Thanks Bigal I am starting to think he just died, nothing else in the tank seems to be having any problems, I still try to peek in on the night life to make sure there isnt some sorta predator in the tank that is gonna make my life miserable lol |
