Slow moving fish & powerheads

How do I prevent a puffer from getting stuck on the intake portion of a powerhead? I came home last night to find the poor fellow (about 3 in long) stuck. He seemed alright this morning despite the fact he seemed to be swimming against the current?

go to a craft store and look for plastic needlepoint canvas

I'll check to see if I have any plastic eggcrate. Otherwise I'll go to a nearby craft shop later on.

Hagen also makes some large plastic prefilters designed to clip onto aquaclear powerheads and can be modded to fit onto maxijets. Might want to check if your LFS carries those. Just use em without the filters that go inside them.

ice cap was going to make available some type of foam cover for the vortecs... I remember billys CBB got sucked in
