Snowflake Eel and longnose hawkfish

I have a small snowflake eel( 8-9 inches). I want to get a longnose hawkfish as well. Whould he be ok with the snowflake? The longnose at the LFS is about 3-3.5 inches long. All the compatability charts say they are not good together. But they don't allow you to specify the type of eel. I thought snowflake were less aggressive than other eels?

Re: Snowflake Eel and longnose hawkfish

Snoflakes are less aggressive and dont get as big is most of the other eels... I think that you would be fine if you got the long nose!

Re: Snowflake Eel and longnose hawkfish

Thanks Matt. That is what I thought as well. Do you know of a website that shows compatability charts that are more fish specific rather than just class of fish?

Re: Snowflake Eel and longnose hawkfish

one thing to watch out for with snowflakes....they are dumb~ they cant see well at all. they hunt by smell. make sure you never feed them fish, shrimp and squid only. they will learn that smell with food and basically ignore fish.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
