| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Wrasses with ich. Copper OK? Use SeaChem Labs Cupramine. I would not recommend coppersafe. Treat in a barebottom tank. You can use PVC for hiding places for the fish. I have never treated a wrassse with it. Hopefully someone will chime in...

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Wrasses with ich. Copper OK? Is the QT fully cycled ? What are you using for filtration ? You should be fine using copper treatment with the Flasher Wrasses just make sure to purchase a copper test and test daily so that you don't overdose and kill the fish.

| Manta Ray | Re: Wrasses with ich. Copper OK? Also, not knowing about the filtration... don't you need to remove any carbon when using copper???? I think I remember hearing that... Hopefully someone will confirm.

| Manta Ray | Re: Wrasses with ich. Copper OK? a fairy wrasse i would not treat with any meds. fairies are pretty durable. the copper may do more harm than good. IME for this fish reducing stress is key and the benefits of a stable QT with some biofiltration out wieghs the risk of putting him in a unstable tank treated copper (the copper stresses him and reduces O2 in the tank and the bacteria will not enough to be able to convert/remove NH3 and stuff, using water changes to remove them only stresses the fish more adding buffer to keep the ph up will cause the NH3 to be even more toxic) if you isolate him/her in a QT with hyposalinity(this aids with stress and kills free living ich parasites). set the tank up in a quiet area with dim lighting. feed him/her good high quality foods, add beta-glucan 1,3 (this will activate his/her immune system) to his/her feedings garlic is good too (but takes more time to reach the levels needed to be effective, its more of a preventive measure than a treatment). then just let him/her fight off. | Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Wrasses with ich. Copper OK? It's true you don't want to overdose but if you underdose you will not kill the parasite, so it's a good ideia to use a test kit and the recommended dosage so you can effectively kill the parasite.
