How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

I have some really interesting fish and I'm just now finding out whats really cool about my trigger fish. Well it seems like when my fish are hungry they will show signs. My lion will swim in the corner, the eel will be out, and the shark swims. Well my Niger trigger is what amazes me the most what he does to get my attention is bite the surface a lot. I wondered why he did that until I threw in some food and then he stopped for the whole day. The next day he did it again and stopped when I fed him. . Very funny fish. SO do any of you have some fish that get your attention when hungry?

Re: How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

At work I have a 10Gal with a Black Ocell. clown and a peppermint shrimp.

The clown will swim in circles and stare at me.

The peppermint shrimp will perch on his "feeding" rock. He'll also let me hand feed him.

At home the fish will stare at me until they get their food.

Re: How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

I dont know if my fish are hungry or not but they follow me from one side of the tank to the other and swim in circles fast... I have a fish room behind my tank and there is a black curtain as my back ground, In the corners of the back of the tank they will peak and like all in a straight one stacked up on top of each other(if you can picture that) watch me... Its kinda funny and I am gonna get pictures of it soon... I feel like I have hundreds of little eyes watching me... It just breaks my heart because they look so pityfull so I feed them....

When the majestic angel is hungry he boldly comes out from the rocks and shows himself in all his glory! (thats why i starve him ) the Akindynos' are always hungry and like most clowns put on quite a show in the morning when the lights come on. Knowing its breakfast time.

they follow you around and stare at you. all of my fishes (goldfish and saltwaterfish) do these except for my piranhas. they just start bumping and bitting each other as if saying "look feed us or we EAT each other....LOL!"

my fish are always hungry~

when i walk up to the tank,,,i will have all of them squeezed into a 6" area directly infront of me,,,if i move,,,,the MASS moves. if i want to feed them i do,,,or to break up the congereation i stick my hand in the tank,,,and they scatter and go ablut normal cruising.

Re: How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

It's funny how much personality my fish and shrimp have. I know immediately when they are hungry. They have me well trained My copperband butterfly used to stare at me and jiggle until I fed her; my other fish come to the front glass stare at me constantly until I feed them; my shrimps (harlequin, skunk and fire) all come out and begin to hunt when hungry.

Re: How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

I am well trained as well
When my fish are hungry they all congregate to the side of the tank visible from 3 parts of my house and wait for me. If my girls walk by, they stay right where they are, If I walk by they start bumping into each other in frantic swim fashion doing laps around the tank......that is all except my Majestic, He maintains eye contact at all times .... lol....

I'm surprised mine don't come flying out of the tank when they see me coming near the tank!
They follow you back and forth, up and down!

Re: How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

Same with mine. They see me and go crazy following me. It doesn't mean they are hungry though. Just that they want more food. They will do it almost immediately after feeding so I have to be careful not to fall into the overfeeding trap. Fun to do any type of tank maintenance with fish bumping into you in a frenzy. Kind of funny how quickly they learn. Mine have been doing this since shortly after we set up the tank.

Re: How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

When I first got my fish I was feeding them a flake food in a blue can....Tetra Marine I think. After awhile whenever they saw me take the blue can out from under the tank they went wild. Now that I know better, they get mainly frozen food and spirulina flakes. But, I've noticed that if I'm near the tank with my blue coffee cup they all come out and swim around the tank like it's feeding time.

My humu splashes water out of the tank, and if that doesn't work, he'll hit the front glass really hard. Scares me sometimes.

Re: How do your fish get your attention when they are hungry?

ha ha, too funny. my tank is right on the ground (no stand), i kind of like it like this because the top is mostly open and it's nice to look right through the water.

all i have to do is stand over it and my domino knows it time to eat, but he can eat all day long. had him for 2mo's and he got chubby allready.

the thing is all he likes is flake's which is good because to me frozen food lets out too much junk into water and with flakes he can eat 'em all up before they sink....he loves live brine shirmp too and sometimes fresh shrimp. and i only saw him poop once

funny thing is i never had any luck feeding those frozen cubes.
