feeding question

my coralbanded shrimp hasnt eatin since i got him like a week ago. no live brink, formula 1, krill, mysis, bworm. nothin. im about to buy some feeder goupies and see if he'll eat them. i only plan on giving him about 45 min or so to get ate him though. does ne1 have an opinion on how to get this guy to eat? the lady at the lfs feed the tank formula1 but he didnt chase. she claims he has been. he was in a little 10 gallon acrlc. witha lot of bubble alge, with i have none of, and plenty of little hermits/snails. should i try some little stuff?

Re: feeding question

give him time,,,hes prolly pick rock all day, and i wouldnt feed guppies,,they are hard for him to hunt and getting him used to active live hunting is not good for your other fish~

Re: feeding question

May be eating when you're not looking or something you are not looking at.
Anybody in the tank giving him a hard time?
Hiding spaces. Once he has chosen one you can put some food inside the favorite spot. I had a fish I had to do that with till he got settled in. Now it's fine and swimming around w/everybody.
Hope is works out ok.

Re: feeding question

Shrimp are always hungry... I would do a water change. That usually will perk up fish to eat so it might help with inverts...

How is the water testing? temp, salinity, nitrAtes, etc...

Re: feeding question

The shrimp stays in the center of the tank in a bare arganite rock that shaped like a half folded pita bread...interesting description...lol
i tried letting chunks of formula1 drop near him but he wont go after it
it i do the same with frozen brine the assortment of like 10 damsels break for it at he swims away. his antennea sp? were really long when i got him then like two days later he shed his exoskeleton and they were still rather long,. then one day they were just short as hel l . you think he snipped them, or a damsel/valpuffer/pangrouper got him, i never saw n e fish hasseling him though

temp 82
den 1.023
rAtes- like 13
ph 8.1

Re: feeding question

I just added a coral shimp and a choc chip starfish.

After 6 hours he'd staked out his cave and is very active. My rocks don't have a lot of algea growing on them yet so my LFS recommended a pellet called "Spectrum THERA +A" by New Life.

Both the shrimp and my hermit crabs love this food, the moment it hits the bottom they are all on the move searching for it.

My shrimp is also eating small bits of the seafood that I feed the starfish.

I wonder if your shrimp is stress cause of the molt he went through ? mine has not molted yet so I'm not sure what his reaction will be.

Am I reading this right, you have a shrimp in with a pufferfish and a grouper? Both these fish will look at the shrimp no matter what type of shrimp it is as food. Your shrimp might not be coming out to eat because it knows predators are nearby and it doesn't want to risk itself. I'm surprised that the shirmp has lived this long to be honest.

Re: feeding question

I agree that high TrAtes could have killed the invert and possibly the grouper. Any possible copper in the tank? Sorry for your losses
