Html Code

I noticed that the html code is active in the General Discussion forum allowing you to embed photobucket videos.

It's not active on the other forums for some reason... anyone know?

Here's a thread with it enabled

too much flow?

You know me...

I'd like to be able to embed my videos on my reef chronicle instead of re-directing people to photobucket.

I checked the options under user CP but did not find anything...

Re: Html Code

This is what you get if you try to embed a video on all of the forums except for General reef discussion.

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i95.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid95.photobucket.com/albums/l140/JFK_Jr/Reef%20Videos/Movie.flv"></embed>

The thread below shows you what the above looks like when html is on.

too much flow?

She did it like this... by using the image code instead of the html tag on photobucket.

Notice when you click on the video image it opens up a new page on photobucket instead of just playing it right here.

Re: Html Code

It shouldn't be allowed anywhere as it's a big security risk... I have disabled it in the general forum. Musta turned it on by accident.

Re: Html Code

I would imagine allowing a "re-direct" would just set the stage for "Other" redirects and next thing you know RS is being used to HIJACK peoples machines and to create a whole new fleet of nasty spam/porn bots! That's something we do NOT want! I work HOURS and HOURS to defeat those jerks and glad we're doing something here to NOT become part of the problem but the solution

<~ Long winded?

Not really... Travis had accidentally turned on the HTML code on the RS website. This allowed people to embed directly on the RS server... which could be bad if misused.

The re-direct of the video clips is just like posting a text link on a thread. Just make sure you don't link to other sites images. Always upload your images to your personal webspace first, then post a link to that. That way you prevent unintended re-directs to spam and porn.

Re: Html Code

Don't forget we allow embedding from youtube and google video here as well...

for Google Video wrap the link in [ gvideo ] tags, and [ youtube ] for youtube.

Or, click "Go Advanced" and there are Google and Youtube icons on the right of the formatting menu for those with bad memories.
