| Midas Blenny | seagrasses i'm looking for a place i can get some type of seagrass. doesn't matter what kind to me as long as it's not rediculously expensive. i plan on turning an empty hex into a seahorse tank and thought that a grassy bottom would be appreciated by the ponies. also i need some info on which stay somewhat short. other ideas on this would also be accepted with open arms. if anyone lives near the ocean and can just grab some for me, that'd be awsome too. |

Certain species are pretty delicate and removal from wild beds would damage them pretty badly and they would survive the move. I wish I could help you out more with this, all I know is that you can purchase bundles of Thallassia and some other species online, I don't know any specific vendors though. Keep in mind you will need a fairly deep bed of ultrafine sediment, as well as enough vertical room and light to grow these guys.

| Midas Blenny | Re: seagrasses yeah i was planning on at least 3 or 4" of sand from my existing tanks. about 1/2 of the sand i've got is more than a year old while the rest is 4 or 5 months. and the tank will be lit by a 70 watt MH and 36watts of 50/50 pc. so i think i should have enough light. |

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Re: seagrasses I would highly suggest a 6"+ sand bed that is established, maybe with some marine mud or something similar in it. I'm thinking you mih\ght be better off with a 150watt de or 175 watt SE halide with 6500k or lower lighting. Hereis a little crash course in seagrass aquariums: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...hreadid=176107 And if you need someone to sell you some grass, here you go: http://billsreef.safeshopper.com/
