My female seahorse is like Marvin

Hi all, don't know if this forum is still active, but...
Fish: Hippocampus Reidi, male and female
Time in tank: 8 months
Purchased at the local store, believe breeded (at least I was told so)
Fed with frozen mysis and vitamin additive.
Live in 60 liters nano (Blau-Boyu) with macroalgae, 7 heads of zoanthus and 4 discosoma, and 6 nassarius snails to eat left food, I removed the lysmata amboinensis (pacific shrimp??) for seahorses wouldn't accept her cleaning them.

Parameters: T=28C, Nh3/4=0, No2=10-15 bit high, No3=0, PH=8-8'5, Kh=7 Salinity=1026.

Well then, the couple are expecting again after 3 breeds, the male is pregnant and perfect, but the female stopped eating a week ago.
It is not she lost appetite, but rather suction power, and will try and try but not reach the food. Her cheeks are deeper every day, this isn't a good sign for sure, for I believe once she's done with her reserve she will certainly die.

Any hints?

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

28*C (82*F) is way too hot. Seahorses need cooler water of around 23*C to help prevent bacterial infections and sickness.

It sounds like weak snick, but I am not sure how to treat it. Hopefully someone will chime in otherwise go to seahorse.org and post in the diseases and treatment section. Good luck!

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

Thanks, I'll be thinking of another chiller for the seahorses...though I don't think there's a rapid solution to it (unless someone lends me the money ) i'll start putting some ice cubes (little by little) in the rear filter...Should the female die, I'll consider placing the male in the RSM with the rest of fish (they're currently at 25º) what do you think?

PS: I'll go to Seahorses.org and read through whether there's any cure for Weak Snick??

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

Any seahorse.org user in?

I didn't register, because I read about their issue with L... and then found that acceptance was subject to a 1000$ fee for something I understood could be out of my control (just as it happened to them)

Is it safe? Just a threat for misusers?

I am not sure about the fee....I am a registered user. I can post for you over there if you don't feel comfortable. Just tell me what you want me to say. Thanks Steve!

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

Thanks for your offer, but if you say there's no problem I'll do it myself (hope I can get some answers, cos I looked it up and found no post on this subject)

I'm soo brave for some things, and then cautious, cautious when you speak about money

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

Okay, I finally registered and found some thread on this issue. Just wasn't looking up the right wording
Unfortunately, as I've waited so long it seems she won't heal anyway (it has to do with the intestine degradation after 4 days) Might be due to some bacterial infection...hope my male survives though.

Therefore, I'll ask them whether they consider it appropriate moving the male to the RSM...once I'm granted permission to write posts

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

You should be able to post now. Drop the temp to give him a fighting chance though.

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

No rights yet, no possibility to drop T either, other than reducing light exposure, already installed a fan and cannot get a chiller right now...

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

Even a fan right at the surface? That should lower the temp a good 8*. What kind of lights are you using?

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

Pl White and Blue, some 58W but unsure, as they came with the nano (Blau-Boyu)

Re: My female seahorse is like Marvin

I did, had to introduce my ID and Val Key. I must seem suspectful or they're still checking where Catalunya is , certainly, my Palau is on the antipodes of the reef islands
