Re: My 34 Gallon Seahorse and Macro Tank!

Mandarins and Seahorses are the perfect tank mates. Both have similar requirements as far as diet, pickyness, flow ect. Mandarins are one of the few fish that you wouldnt have to worry about abusing your horses and since they are both slow and deliberate feeders you dont have to worry about either of them starving. Ill help you as much as I can blake. Have you read Matt Pedersons post on mofib on how to train them the breeder net way? It has been known to work very well for some. I would try the way I explained prior before going that route though.

Re: My 34 Gallon Seahorse and Macro Tank!

Yes I have read that thread as well. They really would be good tank mates wouldn't they....You have convinced me. The next time I see a healthy one, I will buy it. I am sure I will have questions so thanks for helping!

Re: My 34 Gallon Seahorse and Macro Tank!

Long time no see , How's everything Blake?
I've just sold my horses tank, i had too. I saw you peek in my thread today so i'm returning the favor; keeping intouch you know. Don't know if your aware but i had a big flood at my place when i was gone to the ship . The 67 Gallons RO water bucket burst open and got my room, my Computer, the neighbor downstairs, anyway big mess, $ 4000 damage for her , $ 8000 for me, my PC , really burned me. Anyway i had to make choices, to keep it simple i've sold my biocube and the horse tank, to concentrate my efforts and money on the big 65 G. Really breaks my heart i really enjoyed those guys, all where doing well even the mandarin that i though wouldn't last in a 20 g , is great , he's fat , little bugger and cute. yep that incident made me aware of the limitation that my job imposes on me so, i concentrate on top notch technology to help me run the 65g. Controllers and safety check equipment...not cheap, let me tell ya. I'll still visit; i got you on my watch list. Thanks for your kind words back at my thread , and keep up the good work.

Re: My 34 Gallon Seahorse and Macro Tank!

Hi Basile! I am so sorry to hear about the flood! That's too bad about the horses but I understand. If I could have only one tank I would stick with a reef tank.

I'll have to get some more pics of this tank....The male seahorse is due to deliver any day now. I currently do not have any fry. The first time I got fry, I did really well up until frozen training. I had 40 or so at the 1 month mark. I haven't been able to get there again. Maybe the father has been producing so fast that the fry are weaker? Maybe because i started fresh the first time? I don't know but I am going to try to replicate my first attempt. I'll keep you posted.

Re: My 34 Gallon Seahorse and Macro Tank!

LOL, let me master the seahorses first Lynn. I doubt I will be able to raise them but I will give it a shot. I just got them because I enjoy the species. Here are some pics:

Re: My 34 Gallon Seahorse and Macro Tank!

SeahorseBT.... Just checking, your 34 is a RSM 130 and your only using 1 of the 2 circulation pumps. Is the tank stock? Have you changed anything? Thanks!
