Re: pair of horses

You can, but depending on the horses, the shrimp may become a snack. Keeping any shrimp with seahorses is a gamble as they just happen to be a seahorses natural food source.

Also harlequins require live star fish as a food source. They can be pretty rough on water quality as can the seahorses. As long as you have good filtration and keep an eye on water quality you should be fine.

Also it may take a while to acclimate the shrimp to the cooler temperature waters required by seahorses, 72-74F range.

Your best bet is to get CB seahorses as they really haven't been exposed to live shrimp as a food source. It is still a gamble but less of one. I have had CBs that would devour any shrimp put in the tank and have had WCs that wouldn't touch anything alive.

Of course I have had the opposite happen with both types of horses too.

But in essence you're best bet is to get true CB seahorses from a breeder. As for ease of keeping I would recommend either erectus or reidi.
