Re: Got a female

What ever they are they are pretty. and as long as they are eating frozen thats good. I have a WC barb, not planed, but i new what i was getting and did it anyway. After QT i put him in with my female CB ha ha it turned out to be male to. But back to the story. My CB has always been week, got her from Dan, but always had to watch her no him. I baby him and have had him for trying to rember, 1 1/2 yr -2yr . My WC strong horse, but i can't get him to eat frozen food, he cost me lots of $ every week live food shipped in. I seam to lose horse due to my own stupid tank setups. (caught in pumps, head stuck in a rock, my latest , stuck between glass and pump cage.) I try to do the best i can , I have had good and bad with both WC and CB . One thing that helps me keep temp down, and test water. enjoy your horses no mater what they are and do the best you can for them.

Re: Got a female

What kind of live food do you order them? amphipods and copods? Mine will eat the mysis I feed them 2x daily but through out the day they won't stop eating the pods. So all and all I guess they are getting more a variety of food then just mysis. my male wont eat live brine I dont know why. Each horse has their own ways I guess.

Re: Got a female

Well I highly doubt that he has every kind of seahorse as there are 32 different species over 3/4 of which aren't even available in this hobby.

I am really glad that you did research before you made your purchases. But I'd think any breeder would be able to properly ID the species they are breeding. Those horses you have are 150% not kelloggi, they are Hippocampus comes.

I'd love to know the name of your breeder and his store so I can research it for myself. It would be great to give the folks on another forum I belong to another option for purchasing CB seahorses.

Re: Got a female

When I say every kind I dont mean all 32 species!! He has several different kinds in "the common species"...You keep telling me its H. comes, then their are several other people that tell me I have kellogii and then someone tells me reidi. The store I got it at, the guy who breeds them wasn't their but it was his son running the store. He knows for a fact they are captive bred its just they sell so many different kinds he honestly wasn't for sure but his best guess was kelloggi because they DO sell kelloggi as well. They even give 30 day live warrenty's so I think if he was getting wild ones he wouldn't give that long of a warrenty..I know several people that have had nothing but bad luck with WC thats why I went to this guy. I wasn't going shopping for a kellogi I just bought a female that looked like the same species as my male so that they would mate. Their store has gotten nothing but good feedback so im not worried bout this place screwing me. The place isn't a big company or warehouse, its an individual who opened up his own shop and breeds most of his stuff himself. Its not like he has orders of seahorses coming in where he don't know where they came from. When the president of saltwaterfish.com tells me this guy is trustworthy then I think its ok to buy from. The president of saltwaterfish.com lives in the same town as me so he knows where to get good horses.

Re: Got a female

I keep telling you they are H. comes as they are the only species that have the yellow on the inside of the tail and the bands around their tails hence the common name of tiger tail seahorse. They also have the tell tale star pattern around the eyes. Look here and compare the different species you were given with the pics of your horses: Seahorses

I'm not even gonna comment on saltwaterfish.com having good seahorses.

I am not trying to argue with you about this but you just seem to blow off everything I tell you and it is irritating. I have been keeping seahorses for about 6 years now and have had just about every species available in the hobby so I am not just somebody throwing a species name at you at will.

It doesn't matter to me how large scale of a breeder he is, if he is a source for true CB seahorses then I would like to be able to share his info with others in this hobby. I help run a website dedicated to seahorses and their relatives and our members are always looking for sources of CB horses and it would be great to be able to share another one with them. We have members from all over the country so I am sure a few of them would benefit from your guy.
