I completely hear you on the snout booboo. I have been keeping a very close eve on both of them. I appreciate all of ur suggestions.....Not sure it I can get a qt tank going quick enuf.....I tore it down and turned it into a fw tank for my girls....not even sure I have an extra filter, so wouldn't that be dangerous to start a QT w/a new filter???

Also his snout appears to be turning back to match HIS coloring, it is not continuing to whiten or get bigger.

Hello welcome to RS... Good luck on the rescue . Looks like the horses are adapting well.

A 10 gallon bare bottom tank filled with water from the main tank will make a perfect QT tank. As for a cycled filter, you can add a piece of LR from the main tank to act as your bio-filter. Just be warned that if the need arises to treat him with medication you will need to remove the rock and rely on daily water changes to keep the water quality in check.

Hopefully it will heal up on it's own. Regaining color is a good sign, but be sure to watch it closely just to be sure.
