Re: Lynn's 90 gallons of Sunshine

Thanks everybody. We really spent a lot of time on the scape to make sure it was safe for sunshine and to have a lot of hitching posts for the ponies I am still trying to get. The chiller still sits in the garage waiting. The summers are pretty busy down here with his kids coming and going and dealing with the normal "teenage" stuff. Once the kids are back in school I think I will move it to the middle of the room to make a point.
The overflow kind of cleaned itself since it was out of the water during the swap. The corraline turned white and I was able to scrape a lot of it off.
I would be glad to post more pics if I could get rid of the HA. It is soo hard for me to feed just the three fish. I don't want anybody to go hungry so I keep adding food. Since the only coral in the tank are gorgonians and a couple of button polyps that snuck in with a piece of rubble for Sunshine I think I am going to go complete lights out for a week or so. It is going to be hard but I will peek at feeding time etc. Scrubbing the rocks during the move helped but there is still lots there.
Meanwhile every day the scape changes. Sunshine can't decide where she wants to live. I do find it interresting that she is always on the left side of the tank. I am starting to think about another again. If a new one would take the right side of the tank it would be perfect.

Sea hares do a good job on HA and they get the roots.I have also heard of boosting the Magnesium and HA turning white and dying. Good luck.

Re: Lynn's 90 gallons of Sunshine

She certainly is busy.
For some reason sea hares hate my tanks.
I have put 4 in that tank and they have all disappeared. Never any indication on the parameters just missing.
I definitely need to up my snail count but need to get it gone and then be good about not overfeeding. I think I am going to get one of those feeding tubes so I can direct food at her more directly. I am so used to just feeding the tank and everybody chows down. With so few fish I should be putting it right in front of them.

Lynn,
This is the first time I have read your thread. You have overcome a huge obstacle and did a great job. Best of luck with your horses.

Re: Lynn's 90 gallons of Sunshine

Unfortunately I still don't have the horses. I am still waiting for hubby to hook up the chiller. I would have done it by now but it required cutting a hole in the wall to the garage and running power to that side of the garage. Both things I am completely unqualified for. So I wait.
Fortunately I have Sunshine there. She keeps me company while I wait for my ponies.

Re: Lynn's 90 gallons of Sunshine

Well thanks to "Jake" from the forum I got some sweet frags for this tank on Frday. Some really cool xenia that is different from the 3 kinds I already have. Also some GSP that is a lot longer than mpst. Nice size frags on both and apparently they are natural frags. The just spread to small pieces of nearby rock and he gave me the small pieces.
Great guy with really nice family and a gorgeous tank. He has almost no algae except what he leaves there for his spectacular purple tang. The tang even eats cheato of all things. Great guy with a beautiful tank so I wanted to add a big thank you here on my thread.
Both corals were perking up yesterday and ought to be very happy today so I should ge pics after the club meeting this afternoon.
I did look for another blue at the LFS yesterday but they didn't have one.
