Re: 2 headed seahorse fry!

the fry was unable to swim and were just laying on the bottom of the tank so i have preserved it in formalin. those smaller specks are artemia nauplii instar 1 & 2. the juvinile in that photo is only around 8-9mm in length.

As for photos of the parrents im not to sure which ones are responisible becuase i have on stock here aproximatley 2000-3000 adult Hippocampus abdominalis

Ive spoken with one of the local profesors here in Tasmania who studdies seahorses a fair bit and said that it most likley is a siamese twin.

Re: 2 headed seahorse fry!

I am the aquarium supervisor at seahorse world in Tasmania Australia.

Ill try and get some photos up for you but its 5:00pm on a Friday at the moment so they will have to what until next week depending on my schedule .

The system basically consists of 9 1000L tanks measuring approximatley 1200 high. these tanks hold around 100 seahorses each and are kept at a 1:1 male to female ratio for breeding purposes.

Two large bins measuring 2.5m long by 2.5m wide and about .6m deep these are used to grow out the seahorse to adult hood.

The fry rearing system consists of 16 cylindrical tanks that hold approximatley 50-60L each and are able to be stocked to around 300 fry.
