Seattle Seahorses

Well I meant to do this when we came back from the trip in September but somehow never did. Now that we have a seahorse forum there is no time like the present. I'm just going to kick start this tonight and will add more in the next day or two.
This first set of pics was taken at the Seattle Aquarium. They had some nice stuff but not too many seahorses.

Sorry it was too long ago for me to remember what they were. I just remembered the pics and decided to post them since they were unusual. I have a lot more from a zoo we went to. I'll try to post them later today since they were really cool.

Nope, not reidi. They are H. abdominalis, also known as potbellied seahorses. They are a temperate species requiring tank temps in the low to mid 60's. They are also one of the largest species reaching an adult size of roughly 12-14 inches in height.

This next set of pictures is from Port Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. They have an awesome seahorse and pipefish section as well as a large aquarium and a smallish zoo. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting the area of Seattle make this brief side trip. It was just outside of Seattle and one of the best days we had. Definitely a great place.

I think you would love the zoo. They had so many ponies. Apparently they have an award winning breeding program there.
