| Scopas Tang | Seahorse question I set up a new tank a couple of months ago a 29g mainly to be a softie tank with the option of adding clams the lighting is a 20" sunpod 150 7" above the water I've been tossing the idea around of having some ponies in this tank but i need to get a handle on how much current the tank should have ie total turnover in main display so as not to stress the horses. Thanks in advance. Shaun

| Moderator ![]() | Re: Seahorse question For a Seahorse tank you would want 3-5X the tank volume. The problem with this is, you end up with algae and cyano because of the low flow. Alot of people are now using spray bars to get the 10-15X turn over without blowing the Seahorses around. The spray bar breaks up the amount of water that comes out. Some others are placing the power heads in the rocks to break up the amount of water that is produced by it. The idea is to get that right balance where you have a decent turn over without blowing your ponies away. I kinda like the idea of the spray bar. Hope this helps. |
