The water is definately cold up here, but to be able to see reef fish, on a walk on dive, within driving distance of my house would be worth it.

You know they have cold water dive suits so you could dive up there.

Yes, I have one. Haven't been diving for a long time (Teri won't dive in the cold water) but the last dive I made in the middle of July the water temp @20' was approx. 50 deg. At that temp it took about 20 min. to get cold.

When my kids are grown, I'll spend their inheritance on a trip to Belize or Australia. I'm hoping to take them to the Keys later this year.

I just found out that the dive place that I was booking my Belize trip with has canceled the trip. Not enough people signed up for it. They said they may reinstate it if they get more interest in it. The ask me where else I wanted to so and gave me two places to choose from in the same week. Here are the two chooses. Roatan or Honduras

I just got back from an Aggressor live-a-board trip to Belize. I want to say that the cost of it was about $2000 plus airfare and tip. But food and alcohol etc were included... live-a-boards are lots of fun especially if you go with people you get along well with.

As far as Belize went... It was good diving, but I would not say it was awsome. My favorite place hands down is Bonaire. However, Belieze did have some gorgeous coral formations and sponges that were bigger than I am (6'2" and 230lbs!!) There was a lot of dead or dying coral, I believe that this is due to the frequent hurricanes or storms that they get. The Blue Hole... well I am glad I did it but it would not be something I would do again. 8 minutes of bottom time does not appeal to me.

You may think I didn't like the trip... but it was a good time. After all I was underwater for 23 dives (that makes 100 even!!!) One of my top 3 dives was there at lighthouse reef. We saw turtles and dolphins and stingrays along with lots of schools of jacks and snappers and wrasses. There were no sharks or other pheligics. I am definately glad we went, but it is not high on the go again list!

Enjoy your diving wherever you end up going!
