| Achilles Tang | Trip questions I will be visiting my mother in law next spring and while talking to her found out that she has a friend that takes people off the east coast to a small reef for some diving. I may get to take an afternoon and do this but have never scuba dived before. My questions are this, What should I do before hand to get ready and what can I expect. Should I take some dive classes or just go and take a quick lesson when I get there? |

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Trip questions Having taken the dive classed I would suggest them, there is alot to it and doing it right is important not just for you but for what you are looking at. It can be really fun taking the classes, are usually not that expensive, and once you get into it you will probably want to do bigger and better dives. I think our dive classes were like 300 dollars total and were 6 weeks of once a week classes at like 4 hours a class, where 2 was in classroom and the other 2 was actually in a pool, and then there was a final test which was a horrible dive, but out instructor said if we could dive that we would be able to do anything. It was actually a lake, not an ocean but thats really all PA has to offer, and it was a spring fed lake so the water temp was about 55 degrees with 4 foot visability and there was this damn VW beetle sitting in the middle that was hardcore screwing with the compass, but other than that it was a fun time. The classes pay off so that would be my suggestion.
