| Serpent Star | Re: South Florida You'll need to buy a Florida saltwater fishing license which you can get in W-mart, bait stores, or even online. Below is the link for what you can get and how to catch it. the say you can collect coralline algae but I don't know how to catch it with the tools they permit you to catch it with. (nets, or slurp gun) RECREATIONAL HARVESTING INFORMATION FOR MARINE LIFE SPECIES if the link doesn't work..... myfwc.com/marine/recreational/recharvestmls.htm I'd lived in South Florida all my life and I still don't have a scuba license. What is worse is that I'll be in the keys next month for vacation and I have no plans on getting certified either.

| Neon dottyback | Re: South Florida You can catch everything you would want with a snorkel if you aren't certified. Leave the corals alone, and I can show you all the spots you would want in Palm Beach County. Just don't be that out of state guy who comes down here and pulls out our soft coral, it is cheap enough to buy without destroying our reefs. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: South Florida No rock, No hard coral and very spicific amounts and types of soft coral. Enjoy our reefs but you are much better of taking nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. If you get stopped by the marine patrol they are unlikely to know the law so you may have to deal with a mess even if you play by the rules. If you are in East Central Florida, let me know. I would love to have you over for dinner or something.

| Reef Lobster | Re: South Florida Doni, Just take the time and go get it done! A week of night classes is all. You don't even have to buy equipment, most places let you use theres for the certifacation. All you have to have is a snorkle, mask, fins and a weight belt. Classes are usually $250.00 for a one time shot and your good for 140 feet deep. Then when you come to Florida Give me a call, I'll take you to some real honey holes! |
