Thinning fish list...

After posting a while ago, you all made me realize that I had waaaay over crowded my tank. Thank You. So I'm working to improve my list to smaller quantities. I just kept buying the fish because I was just so used to getting a new one after one died (I was buying unhealthy fish that looked fine from a really bad LFS) Now I no longer shop at that LFS. I really want a larger tank, but I can't get one being that I am not going to move because my parents have decided to stay a little longer at out current house. Taking a happy fish out of his home is hard for me, plus taking it to the LFS is even harder, but I want the best for these animals.

So far here's what I've done:
Taken the 2 mandarins back
Moved the ocellaris back home to her 50 (she stopped eating in the 10, but she's fine now)
Moved the maroons to the 10 which I upgraded to an 18g tall.

So here's my list:
50g-
Yellow tang
Mystery Wrasse
Sixline
ocellaris
YW goby
Scooter blenny
purple pseudo

18g tall-
2 maroons and their host condy anemone
The maroons are only there temporarily until I find a new home for them. Once that happens, the watchman and scooter are going in the 18, possibly along with either the sixline or another small wrasse.

Is this any better? I am not getting rid of the tang, mystery wrasse or the ocellaris, no matter what.

I think what you've done sounds fine.

Is your scooter eating prepped foods? He may not find enough pods to munch on in the 18. I'm suprised he did well with the sixline in the same tank and two mandrins since they all eat the same food.

The mandarins ate frozen, and the sixline, watchman, and scooter eat everything including flake.

sheez, you are lucky...
If I ever find a mandrin that eats frozen I will buy it for sure.
I've never had one come in from the wholesalers eating frozen.
Probably about half the scooters I've ever gotten in on shipments have eaten frozen, but they are so slow about getting to food I can't imagne them getting to food against the likes of a sixline or clownfish...

My scooter is cool, nothing really bothers him other than my purple pseudo., so he just casually swims up and grabs what he wants. I took the mandarins back tho, cause they weren't active, and since my space is limited, I'd rather have more active fish. I'm keeping the watchman and scooter cause the scooter's always out and the watchman cause he is funny to watch when a hermit strolls by his cave.

I just though of something, with a pair of clowns the male is usually much smaller with most types. Doesn't that affect the inches per gallon rule?

Contrary to the advice you've received already, I've never been a big fan of the inches per gallon rule.
But if you are going by that, you still are only talking about a difference of an inch or inch and a half most of the time.
Man, you should have posted the manndarins for sale up here , I'd pay some nice cash for frozen food eating mandarins, espcially a pair (assuming male female?)

I was told that the male has a spike on the top fin, and the female doesn't, if thats the case then yes they were a pair, if not, then they were just really good friends cause they were hardly ever apart. I fed every mandarin at the LFS, and these two weren't the only ones eating frozen but I liked the way they paired up. I would have posted them, but I would be afraid of shipping them.

The inches per gallon rule annoys me too, but I can see why its there.
