Finally Found One!

Im very picky at what fish and corals i add to my aquarium, And have been debating and debating this clownfish at my work for weeks now. Its a very pretty true Percula. We had it in a tank with fake decorations and was always in copper just to be sure in hopes that i would buy it. I took it home and didnt QT it due to I QTed it for a while at work. He seems to be doing alright except for he might have swallowed some air and cant keep himself midlevel in the aquarium. He got over this i could tell but still remains at the surface of the aquarium, while my tang doesnt go up there(and never really has except for feeding). I have quite a bit of surface tension to keep the aquarium oxigenated so i dont see how it would be lack of air? He hasnt tried to please my anemone to let it host it yet, and my water parameters are stellar so i dont see why at night and some of the day he remained at the top. I just got him yesterday, i may just be paranoid and not waiting long enough but i would love some reassurance. Thanks team.

Lix

Re: Finally Found One!

Lix bro did you ever get your tank under control after last week's fiasco?

I have to say...I feel this was very premature with the status of your tank just last week. you gotta learn to slow down buddy.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Finally Found One!

I did get it under control. I figured that thread was dead. salinity is 34(SG-1.0226) Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate 0, Calcium 430, alk 4meq, Temp 77F, Phosphates .0034, PH 8.27. My xenia are back to normal, and my tang is happy as can be. F***ing up doesnt disqualify me from future additions when i get things under control. The clownfish seems to be moving about more as the lights went on and my tang leaves him/her alone. And i do take things slow AL ive had these levels since right after that post, the salinity is the same as the tank that the clown came from.

Re: Finally Found One!

Dude!!! Where in the world is your e-brake? If you were a race car you would be leading the pack but what you do not relieze is that you are about to loose a tire. You had some big problems just a bit ago and now you are adding fish? I checked the refractometers for wine and found out that saltwater throws them off, compared one to a refractometer for salt water. Anyway like Al said make changes SLOWLY this is VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Sudden changes will stress and harm fish and corals. I also found that beginers reading ,even though I had already read it, really helped to reread it.

Well put. But i compared the refractometer to a true Specific Gravity one and was very close in comparison.

DOOD! You got the water parameters under control for a DAY but what about other factors... what about potential "Die Off" from other things that you can't see? Honestly if I have any type of "incident" my tank goes into LOCK DOWN for no less than 2- 4 weeks. You just never know what one "incident" will snowball into other incidents.

We all have to learn somehow... you're is just looking like the expensive way bro
