Fish compatibility help

Hey guys So I have been doing research on some future fish problems, like everyone should before purchasing, and I had some questions. Can I put a eel in with my clown fish? No no no just kidding. Right now I have 2 pajama cardinals and 1 false clown. I want to get a diamond goby and a midas blenny. Does anyone have some info to share. My main concerns are the cardinals pick on the blennies and the blennies pick on the gobies. They are all pretty peaceful though so I think I will be ok? What's everyone else thinking.

Re: Fish compatibility help

I don't have any cardinals but do have a maroon clown with several gobies and a pair of midas blennies. All have been in the tank for quite some time without problem.
It also depends on the size of the tank. Some fish including clowns get very territorial in small places.

Re: Fish compatibility help

The clow would be the most territorial IMO. You are pushing the limits of your bio-load though. I really don't know anything about cardinals though.

Re: Fish compatibility help

If you speak of a lawnower blenny, then there may indeed be some problems with the gobies (assuming you want a bottom dwelling goby). But it varies for each individual fish.

I don't see an issue, are you planning to add them simultaneously ?

The goby will get added right away because i don't QT gobies. The Blenny will go into the QT tank for 6 weeks then will get added.

Re: Fish compatibility help

here is a link to a compatibility chart, it is very basic, so it doesn't say what to add 1 or 2nd etc.

Marine Compatability Chart

you could research this fish on this site, you have to click on introducing new fish, sometimes it will say "add this fish last" like on the 6 line wrasse

I have that same chart. It says with caution. I can read. I was just asking for peoples personal experiences.

Re: Fish compatibility help

i personally have a lawnmower blenny and a dimond goby. they seem to get along well. so i dont see any problems there. ummmm but do your research on the dimond goby. a lot of times they can't get enough food from the water column and end up slowly starving and dieing after a few months. i actually use a seringe and put food in the sand around his home. he is nice and fat and always seems to find the food.

Re: Fish compatibility help

you talked about an eel??...i got a snowflake eel with a false perc, sailfin tank, unknown goby, green spotted puffer, and a sunset pseudo..they all get along fine except when its feeding time my 2" puffer will pick fights with my 14" snowflake eel...dumba$$ lol the puffer doesnt seem to know the difference between the eel's white nose and a piece of shrimp. and this is all in a 50g

Re: Fish compatibility help

If youre reffering to WatchinFish's post, no. Its a diamond goby. Eels are cool. Shame they arent reef safe.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
