Onyx clown question...

about 3 months ago I bought 2 baby onyx clowns. They were tiny back then and I actually thought one of them might not make it. He was really pale and didn't grow as fast as the other one.
Now they are both healthy and about 1.5 inches. Both have 2 full stripes and one half stripe. But they still look just like my false percula.

At what age or size are they supposed to turn darker?

And is it normal that the bigger one likes to hang out and share an anemone with the false perc?
And the anemone is actually a pink tip anemone. I thought clowns don't like those... They are a really odd little group...

Re: Onyx clown question...

I had two for the past 2 years and purchased them when very young as well, they turned darker over the first year - as for them hanging out in the same anemone I think that is normal since one will take on the female and the smaller will be the male

Best of luck they are great ( I lost mine this week when they jumpled out of the new tank)

I would like to see this anemone you have. Could you post a picture?

Re: Onyx clown question...

this is how big and where it started of...

now it's been in that corner for a couple of months and is huge

Here is a pic of the 2 fish in the anemone... the color isn't as good as in the second pic (this time I had to use the flash)

Re: Onyx clown question...

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that is a LTA (long tentacle anemone) Most clowns will host it.

this is what it looks like:

It's hard to see in the pictures but the tips are pink and the main color is white.

I can see what your saying now that i look past the tentacle and focus on the tips.
This is what i was comparing it to:
Long Tentacle Anemone: Ultra Color

Re: Onyx clown question...

I don't know much about anemones. I'm just glad it's happy in my tank and the clowns like it...
And I hope it won't move too much...
