| Tunicate | Picasso Trigger Color question I've asked this question a few times, but have yet to receive a satisfactory answer ![]() I have seen some Picasso's with amazing colors, but some have very light colors. Why? Is its s-e-x, size, stress, diet, lighting in the tank, specimen, or other? My Picasso has good colors when I first turn on the lights of the tank, but then its color fades (see pic below). He is about 1.5-2.0" and eats very well. Here is a link to some Picasso's with amazing colors. I want mine to look like these! YouTube - Picasso Triggers #2.MPG |

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: Picasso Trigger Color question Big guess here... I'm thinking the lighting has at least something to do with it. Ever notice that clownfish who have been under MH for a while are darker?

| Tunicate | Re: Picasso Trigger Color question Right now he's in a tank with PC lighting. At one of my local LFS, there are about 5 different Picasso's all at/around the size of mine. They are regular NO light at they all have better coloration than mine, but withing the 5 there are a couple that are nicer colored than the rest. Still this is circumstantial evidence and I would like to have some hard facts. I got the Picasso because of its reputation for good colors, and may consider trading mine in (even though I am a bit attached to this one) if its a species or male/female issue, otherwise, I would like to keep it if by husbandry I can increase its color. |

| Pistol Shrimp | Re: Picasso Trigger Color question i think most likely its just a male/female issue, or something else very similair. As i said, most powder browns are white, but occasionally you can find one that has a rather beautiful brown to it. Ive seen 2 such powder browns, and ive seen 3 or 4 of the white ones... |

| Reef Lobster | Re: Picasso Trigger Color question Many times coloration has to do with the quality of the food being consumed as opposed to the quantity of food the fish is taking in. What are you feeding with?
