| Tubeworm  | why are my fish dying???? Yesterday morning I noticed my feather duster came out of their tubes. I tried to help them get back in but didn't think too much of it. That evening I came home and found my scooter blenny and Orange Banded Prawn Goby dead. Now this morning I woke up to a dead coral banded shrimp and "missing" (pretty sure they are gone) Sunburst Anthias and firefish Goby. For some reason my first thought it the water got too hot.. do you think so? should i get a chiller? I have 5 other fish in the tank i want to save. any ideas??? thanks nitrite .25 ammonia .25 temp 82 |

| Achilles Tang  | Re: why are my fish dying???? The temp shouldn't be the problem. Fish can usually take that temperature with no problem. It could however be a problem if the tank is overcrowded. Ammonia & nitrite are of concern. How long has this tank been set up & what size is it?

| Hey!Its not my fault   | Re: why are my fish dying???? How old is your tank? You have high levels of ammonia which is VERY hard on livestock... You are either adding to much livestock or have alot of waste in the water..... PLease give us more feedback on your tank.
__________________ 265 Gallon Reef built into basement wall. Lighting = 6x250 watts MH, 2x96 watt PC ,and 2x140 watt VHO for a total watt of 1,972 watts  . New addition on 4-14-07 of 100 gallon sump and 100 gallon refugium. I think I have lost my mind. Gotta love this hobby    VickiLife is like a pathway of untrodden snow. | The Wand Geek was here. ;)   | Re: why are my fish dying???? Sorry for your losses  Do not add any more livestock until those parameters are zero. What size is your tank? How long has it been set up? How long have you had the fish? What is your salinity? What type of filters/skimmers/water circulation? The deaths could be caused from a cycle (high ammonia/nitrites), lack of oxygen, disease, poison, etc.

Agreed. Water changes, Amquel (to neutrilize the ammonia) and get a clip on fan to bring the water temps down.
