Question Adding a puffer in new system ich worries

Hey guys dilemma had my tank nearly two months now 150g predator tank. Finished cycling added a porcupine puffer he got ich and died after about 5 days. ohh the horror, the feeling of failure any way. I was looking for your opinions on doing a preventative treatment for ich in my main tank with a reef safe product like stop parasite and was looking for your thoughts on that. I just hate to see my new fish get ich it stinks. Lfs told me i should probably add the pufer first heres my line up
im shooting for in my tank.
Porcupine puffer
Green bird wrasse
Humu Humu trigger
miniatius or blue line grouper
niger trigger (Maybe)

U.V. sterolizer....since you are not quarantining your fish and treating then this is your best way....replace bulb every 10 months and keep sheath clean....problem solved

Re: Adding a puffer in new system ich worries

Quarrantine, Quarraintine.
It's the only way to have a truly ich free tank. Since your tank is now empty it is perfect for the 8 week fallow period required to kill off the ich in the tank. No reef safe remedy will actually remover the parasite.
Read the stickies in the fish disease forum. They go through the why and how very specifically.

A reef tank is like a racecar. The faster you go the harder you crash.
