Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Oy. Fish stocking, yes, again.

Maybe you can just get him cornered with a piece of acrylic. That way what ever fish you add to the tank can adjust.
Just to let you know, I added Jose to my 100 gallon tank after Hulio my Powder Blue Tang. If there ever was an agressive fish Hulio was that. PBT are very aggressive. Jose literally bit Hulio on the face. After that Hulio never bothered Jose again. I think that when you try to add fish that are shaped differently you will not have to many issues.

Re: Oy. Fish stocking, yes, again.

So perhaps the dream is not yet dead, just propped up with some eggcrate...

Lil' Al and Bubbles (how original.) have been segregated in the 55g for a few days now. Lil' Al was getting as aggressive as the scopas was almost, so I put eggcrate between them, they had their own sections of tank to hang out in.

Well the other fish learned that they could fit over the top of the eggcrate so they took advantage and played back and forth, whether it be for food or cleaner shrimp time or just for the heck of it. Well Bubbles decided he wanted over too so PLOP! over he went. Lil' Al wasn't terribly thrilled to have him back but after several days of eggcrate separation they learned to live with each other.

Now if I can figure out how to do this with the scopas...
