Palani Tang Has Been Naughty

Last night I confirmed that he is the one who has been picking at my clam. He has also nibbled on some of my zoos, but I thought he was just picking at the sick ones. This morning my nice orange colony is absolutely gone, picked clean!

Gotta fish him out of there and it isn't going to be fun.

lol - fish for dinner tonight! Oops gotta catch him first.

He won and is still in there. I don't know how to get this guy out. I sat with a piece of shrimp in a net and another one dangling from my hand for 2 hours. He finally came out and backed up towards it but never came anywhere near close enough to catch. He's now fed so it won't be today. Tomorrow maybe I'll just try to feed from my hand with the net out of the water until he is in the middle of eating. He is so smart though.

But, but, but...

Nori doesn't get him too excited. Shrimp is a treat for him because he only gets it once or twice a week.

What to do, what to do. Tonight when he's sleeping? I can't get to his sleeping quarters...

Maybe tonight after lights are out I will try the shrimp again so he can't see the net as well... maybe I will get lucky!

Not surprising as the Acanthurus sp. mature they will become omnivores and need some meat in their diet and it's not uncommon for them to turn to corals.

He's laughing at me as I type this.

I tried feeding normal this morning with the net standing by. He came out and was eating right in front of me, but I cuoldn't get the big net in the water to scoop him up fast enough. Tomorrow I am feeding when the lights are out. Probably won't help.

He is looking right at me as I plan this. I think he can read this!

This fish is very big and would never even think of going in a trap either. My trap is currently loaned out, but there is no way it would work on this monster.

Fish and hook - I'd probably kill him (or one of my other fishes). That would be very strange to fish in my tank. I do love fishing though. Get the BBQr ready...
