yes, dumb q about stocking yet again... doing research;

What fish would put the fear of God in a 6 line and a domino damsel?

How big of a tank?
My first thought is a tang.

Re: Stocking Q again DON'T DELETE...

My 75. I have those two, the scopas and a garden eel. The scopas and 6 line seem to have become buddies. But the 6 line and Spot have a nasty habit of terrorizing any new fish (as seen in miniMoe's brief foray into the 75. he's happily lazing his days away in the 9g for now.) I want to put those two in their places.

Anything you put in that puts these guys in their place is likely to harrass new fish as well. I don't really have any suggestions. My maroon clown does the job of bully in my tank except for the tangs.

Re: Stocking Q again DON'T DELETE...

Just tape a picture of this up on the side of the tank.

Honestly though anything you put in there that would be aggressive to those two will be aggressive to anything else also. I would suggest putting those guys in QT for a bit, add your new livestock and give them a few weeks to acclimate, then add the six line and domino back after a month or two in time out.

Re: Stocking Q again DON'T DELETE...

ooo I printed that out, Mike!!!

... actually I didn't think of that, scoooping the bada$$es outta there and letting the newbies settle in ... gonna take a while to catch 'em though. Maybe I'll just put a bunch of damsels in there and let 'em duke it out.

I have about 45 lbs of rock curing in another tank, so my main event is going to be a HUGE reaquascaping, then I'll have to wait for that to settle, THEN maybe I could think the brookynella is gone and add some fishies. The intro of the new rock might be just the thing to help me catch the bullies.

If I put the right fish in there maybe I could sell fight tix.

Re: Stocking Q again DON'T DELETE...

Simply adding the new rock will probably fix the problem because all your fish will establish new boundaries.

Re: Stocking Q again DON'T DELETE...

Pretty fish! I love my damsels and they get along with everyone. Probably because they are the smallest. I really think that grouping ALL damsels into a pot and saying "mean fish!" isn't fair to the entire species. It's a personal trait to an individual fish. Just like angels. Some pick at corals, some don't, even though they are all of the same family. Bad apple syndrome?

Re: Stocking Q again DON'T DELETE...

After a month in QT I added a small C. argi to my tank and my sixline immediately began beating the little angel up. The six, a maroon clown and a firefish had been in the tank for 18 months with nary a problem. Luckily the angel found a bolthole and the six only bothered it when it tried to eat. After about a week it never bothered it again. I don't know about the damsel though, those guys are just mean. But you could try something that would be small enough to hide for a few days.

Assuming you already have those fish, your best bet would be to sell or give them away and start over with other fish.

If you really want to keep what is there, you'll need to get something big and tough. The problem with that is anything that can hold it's own against those fish could turn into a real tank terror.
