Lemon Peel Angel

Does anyone have any experience with this fish. I got one last wee for my 90gl reef tank and he seems to be a little too interested in my coral. I have read that they are reef safe and he is really beautiful but if he eats my coral I will eat him.

Re: Lemon Peel Angel

It's always hit or miss with any of the centropyge angels, but the lemonpeel has a terrible reputation...and well deserved IMO...how do you like your lemonpeels, with a bit of lemon?

Re: Lemon Peel Angel

Just about all the Centropyga genus is suspect with respect to picking at corals. I have never had a Lemonpeel angel, but have had a Flame and now have a Cherub angel. Both were the utmost citizens of my reef, but I know that at any time they can turn into a coral munching menace. Just keep an eye on it. If it starts picking, take it back to the LFS for a trade-in. BTW, Lemonpeels are a most striking fish!

Re: Lemon Peel Angel

At least you have set boundaries.

He eats corals=you eat him.

Hopefully you explained this to him in a calm authoritative voice.
Did you make him sign a contract? Otherwise it may not stand up in court. lol

Hope he behaves for you. They are beautiful fish.
Why are the pretty ones always crazy?

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Lemon Peel Angel

All dwarf angels are subject to eating corals. Taking the risk is your choice, and a choice that I made by getting a bicolor angel. He has been a model citizen leaving everything alone, but that could all change quickly.

Re: Lemon Peel Angel

with every fish there is a general scope of temperment,,,and any fish can fall within any part of this range. some model citizens,,,,others a holy terror. so its up to the aquarist to learn and weigh the potentials and go from there.

Re: Lemon Peel Angel-Update

Well!!! He ended up to be a very bad citizen.. Ate $300++ worth of my coral...Had to take apart the whole tank just to get him out.(90 gl reef with 150lb-200lbs of live rock)..Very frustrated. Took him back to LFS and they gave me a couple of corals free for giving me the wrong information...Big of them right?
