Fish Compatability

Does anyone know any good site on the net that have any good information on what corals and fish and invertabrites can live together? Anything would be helpful

You can basically ask us before buying but here's a little summary from my own experience :

1) Lawnmower blenny goes with everybody. Reef safe.
2) Clowns single species (a pair is ok but has to be different in size) unless your tank is big then you can have 2 species. Reef safe.
3) Tangs can be kept with other fishes but better not with their own species unless you have a big tank. Reef safe.
4) Angels and pygmy angels are not reef safe but they demand good water quality. Best in matured tanks.
5) Wrasses are cool with everybody.
6) Triggerfishes are the big bad boys of the tank. They eat anything including your fingers.
7) Damsels are better left at the LFS since you'll try to get them out eventually.

Anybody else please add to this list. Cheers.

Let me point you to a site that may have some of your answere. t least will be able to help with individual species& some compatability issues.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Bob Fenner a few times, and what a wealth of knowledge he is. He's worked just about every aspect of this hobby, from diving/collecting, working in the collection stations, wholesale & retail. What a guy. I can't possibly say enough good things about him. You will find just about everything on his site that you will need to know, especially if use the google search that's in the site.

Actually, most wrasses really like inverts. Great Snacks! Yep, the vast majority of wrasses will eat inverts like candy. Mmmm-Mmmm-Mmmm! I just love shrimp snax! While many wrasses are considered as reef safe, meaning they won't eat or pick at corals, very few except some of the fairy wrasses are invert safe.

Hah, that's just what I was going to say; wrasses are not cool with shrimps! I have a 6-line and two cleaner shrimp and two harlequin shrimp, but all the shrimp stay in the rocks.

I have 4 tangs (Kole, Blonde Naso, Sailfin, & Chocolate) in my 260 and they get along with no probs.

However, I could not keep two clown sp. even in a 260.

But, everyone's milage varies. Good info from nivek and everyone!

Anthias need mature tanks.
Mandarins do too.
I'd avoid those for the time being.

Shrimp are usually save with Fairies and flasher wrasses, as well as leopards.
