Re: Help

Can you catch them? what are they? and if so...Freshwater dip, 5-6 minutes each fish in nice clean r/o (that matches tank temp) it should do the trick

Re: Help

Ich is a sign of stress in the tank. Is this product reef and invert safe? I'm not familiar with it. Can you give us your parameters reading on the tank. Ammonia , nitrites and nitrates so we can help figure out what may be stressing the fish. Your other fish may get ich and it is best to treat fish in a quarantine tank (needs to be cycled ). Leaving the main tank fishless for 6-8 weeks will starve out the ich cycle. Dont add anymore livestock until this is taking care of.

Re: Help

what type of tank do you have? if its a FOWLR you might just want to keep treating, and take blue-eyez advice to heed and find the cause of stress.

but if you have a reef, id set up a hospital/acclimation tank, remove the fish and treat for 3-6 weeks.

Re: Help

Well if quarrantine is not an option all you can do is feed garlic (to boost their immune system) and try to reduce stress as much as possible. If you don't have corals I would leave the lights off and be sure the fish have lots of hiding places so they feel secure.
Without quarrantine and leaving the tank fish free for 6-8 weeks you will have ich as long as you have the tank. What you strive for is to enhance the immune system of the fish so they can develop an immunity and fight the infection.

Re: Help

the nirtite(no2) is bad, the nitrate(no3) is not sooo bad at all....you can usually do 5-10% w/c daily for a week to bring the nitrates back down, then why are they high? over feeding over population, improper filtration???

Re: Help

As was discussed in your other thread, your tank is overstocked for being 1 month old. I hate to say it, but you are going too fast and that invites bad things. The saying goes with a Saltwater tank the faster you go the harder you crash. Or...Nothing good happens fast in a saltwater tank.

You should never have fish in a tank with nitrites, very toxic and stressful on the fish as this toxin runs over their gills, burning them and decreasing their ability to breath. This inturn taxes their immune system, while their little bodies are trying to repair the damage that is happening to the gills their immune system can not fight off other offending external baddies.

I believe I told you in your other thread that you were heading for a catastrophy. This is the beginning!

Re: Help

inverts are usually more sensitive than fish.

how long did your tank cycle?

what are you using for substrate?

So that's my background...I got the condi because it was the cheapest anemone and it could be under the lights that i have. I wanted to see if my false percula would host to it. I've had no luck with it so far....but....this afternoon I saw my domino damsel with the condi. He was rubbing up against the condi. It looked like he was kinda cuddling with it...it was kinda cute. But I was afraid the condi was gonna eat my damsel.

So I ran across this website and thought I'd join and talk to some people that have reef tanks and actually know what I'm talking about rather than my friends that look at me like I'm stupid.

How long was your tank set up before you added any fish or livestock? Saltwater tanks need to cycle for 6-8 weeks to build up the biologically filtration before you add any livestock.

Well would you like to hear the truth or just have us tell you everything will be alright?

If you haven't cycled your tank properly then anything you put in is not going to survive due to the stressful and unhealthy water conditions a cycling tank will create.

The ich is most likely being caused by the stress of the tank not being cycled. It will continue to be a problem unless you remove the stress factor which in this case would mean removing all the fish and and other livestock and allowing the tank finish cycling.
