For just the tank? You don't need all the stuff that they try to sell with it. I hate to say it, but try Walmart.
Oh and the karma is 10% of what you have. I think I gave her welcome karma but I don't remember for sure. That would have been a bit over 400 and had nothing to do with the pic.

In the Panama City Beach area, my old stomping grounds, yeah you can find a 10 gallon tank for less than 50.00. You must be looking at the tanks that come with filter, pump, and all that other stuff. Depending where you buy it they will be about 10.00-15.00 for just a ten gallon tank, even in some of the LFS stores. Here they want about 13.00 for just a ten gallon and nothing with it in the LFS I frequent.

Bob: I don't think the picture had anything to do with the Karma either, I think I too gave her welcome karma.

All you need for a qt. is tank(of course), heater, powerhead and some hiding places for the fish, like fake plants. I have used plastic cups set on their sides. Dont use any substrate or liverock.

As for the invert they are ok in the main tank. Most wont get ich. It is important to leave the main tank fishless for about 2 months. Do not add the fish back into the main tank until all fish in the QT have no signs of ich for 2 months or you will have to start all over. Good luck

well, now. thats a good question there hot sauce....

its basically going to be a very basic and smaller tank you'll utilize when you gets a new fish.

what it will be now is like a hospital tank.
so what youll need is some darn good water,
dont have an RODI set up in your home? go to the grocery and get gallons of it. some have the lil machines, some just have gallons of it (read the small print on the lables)

youll need salt, and a small powerhead or somthin and any meds youll need for the whole ick thing.

also lets hope that woodstock or dentoid or somebody with more experience and that wisdom thing i so desperatly lack will chime in.

this will give you the oppertunity to medicate your fish in a semi stable system, while you address the issues in your main display.

but hey, my knowledge is limited. some one else elaborate a lil, because i dont know if you need to cycle a qt tank?

If there's no bio-filtration then there's not anything to really cycle....it's usually a good idea to have your QT ready to go at all times.

The QT is a scaled down and very simplistic tank. blue_eyes has given you the spot on advice.

Power head is a water pump IN The tank to move water around.

Here are some examples... they just keep the water moving around in the tank

OHHH I have one of those an aquaclear 10....b/c at one time the sand on the opposite side as the filtration thingy (haha) was looking nasty so the LFS said to try that.

Ohhh!!!! and one night we put it really low near the sand and the starfish came out that night. Ben woke up the next morning and he was sucked up in it.....but he's fine....Don't ask me how but he is.

ANYWAY will the one i got work.....(sorry i tend to get off subject a lot.)
