These are my latest addition to my 125: tank raised Australian Black Percula Saddle Back Clowns. I had my maroon pair for about 2 years, but they both kept knocking my frags into other corals or the sand and killing them so they have found need homes. I had to sweet talk the boyfriend into selling me this pair They are a beautiful pair and no one else in the tank is bothered by them.

Hummm...Ok, I'll bite, why becareful? They have been in Jack's shop for about 3 weeks and have been eating great. They have even lived through a major temp spike last Sunday while we were in L.A. The tank they were in got up to 95 degrees - the chiller failed. We though all the fish would be dead by morning, but Jack only lost a couple. So, what do I need to watch out for with these fish? I can't find much information on the on the web. Know of any sites to read? thanks

Re: Newest members: Black Clowns

I had a pair of these and they found new homes as they had become really aggressive with others. The person I gave them to who had a 150 tank passed them onto someone else also because of their aggression. I do know a few people who have had them or have them and have no problems, hopefully you will have that same result.

Re: Newest members: Black Clowns

Those are awesome. Question: why are they called saddle clowns? The white middle stripe goes all the way around. Friend has one that's a polymnus (sp?) that has the white on his rear dorsal and a bit onto the body, but does not go all the way around the body. Is this just a difference in coloration within the BW percula saddle breed?

Re: Newest members: Black Clowns

Thank you Caitrina and Kimoy for the heads up. I hope they will behave. I do not plan on giving them an anemone, which might help keep them more amicable towards their tankmates. So far they are just hanging out at the end of the tank together, not leaving one anothers side. They are really beautiful. If they get really bad, I will put them in the 24 with the arabian pseudochromis. She is very aggressive and only has a lawnmower blenny and 2 yellow tail damsels. I thought about putting them in there in the first place.

Re: Newest members: Black Clowns

I'm having a little trouble making those out...are those saddlebacks or are they b/w ocellaris'? They look more like ocellaris' (which are beautiful) and expensive; especially pairs.

Re: Newest members: Black Clowns

Those look like B&W Ocellaris to me not the SaddleBack clowns.

Re: Newest members: Black Clowns

They are saddle backs; here is a pic where you can see the saddle on the one. Here saddle goes on both sides; the other clown is only on one side, but he did not 'sit' for the pic.
