| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Angel beating on my glass! Could be fighting with it's reflection. Just so you know they are not reef safe. If you are planning a reef remove him now before he munches on your corals.

How can anyone say no to a beautiful blond with heavy blue eye-shadow? The Lemonpeels have always been one of my favorite pygmy angelfish...but they have a well-earned bad reputation (just like their human counterparts ) and are actually considered to have a poor survival record in captivity...

| Sea Pen | Re: Angel beating on my glass! Poor survival... i added this guy about a week after i added some damels (which i took back.. those $#@%ing bass-turds)right at the end of my cycle...crazy maybe i got a good one... as for him munching on my corals he hasnt touched any of them but he did eat a bittle starfish completely, i watched in horror as the legs shorted one they then were stubs then next then i finally saw the angel eating the last of the middle... so you think he's fighting with himself... he's never done this before.. thanks for the help and i hope i get some more help on this situation!! |

| Angel Girl's Daddy ![]() | Re: Angel beating on my glass! I had a Navarkius (majestic angel) that didn't eat any corals. Great fish. I hear he's in another reef now also and doing well. It really is hit and miss with some angels. I have always wanted a lemon peel. Good to read some info on them.

Sadly, the odds are, it won't be alive in one year. That's not to say it WILL die, just that MOST don't live in captivity very long for one reason or another. There have been people who have kept them more than 10 years...but they are the exception, not the rule. Good luck with it...they are one of my favorite little angels...

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Angel beating on my glass! It's always good to hear someone "beating the odds" in the hobby. It's long been suspected that the trouble is more with collection methods and handling than the fish itself. IIRC, Centropyge flavissima collected around Christmas and Cocos-Keeling Islands are the supposed to have the best survival rates. (not sure why) and of course, those from the Philippines and much of the Indo-Pacific have more dismal rates, due to the likelyhood of being collected with drugs. (cyanide and others.) Beautiful fish...curious, active, and personable...and those blue eye-rings...<swoon> ![]()
