| Tunicate | Flame Angel I've always had my eye on a pygmie flame angel as the centerpeice fish of a marine tank. Haven't got my tank up and running yet and probably about at least 6mos down the road from adding livestock, so just looking for more personal experiences with this fish from my fellow forum junkies I'm planning on a FOWLR setup in my 75 gal tank with the addition of some corals when I feel comfy with it. Any tips on these fish and other potential tankmates? Thanks! Brian |

| Over Achiever | Re: Flame Angel One of my favorites! I had one that didn't cause any problems with corals. Unfortunately, I lost it to heater malfunction. However, they are reported to pick at coral. Since you are starting out as FOWLR, this would be a great fish. They like a lot of hiding places and LR to pick at. Also they are best kept in tanks 50 gallons or more. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Flame Angel Also don't try to add another dwarf angel. They are very territorial.

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Flame Angel I've had a couple of Flame Angels as well as many other Centropyges and they're very beautiful fish but have a tendency to nip certain corals, particularly Trachyphyllias/Lobophyllias/Wellsophyllias etc., Zoanthids and Clam mantles. If you avoid these corals you should be fine with most of the Dwarf Angels. One thing to watch with these fish is cyanide poisoning as they are very difficult to catch and it's commonly used in certain areas. If any of them are unusually bright in color, lethargic always hiding etc. don't purchase ! Here's some good info: What a Darling Little Angel: The Genus Centropyge by Henry C. | Excellent Guesser :D | Re: Flame Angel Quote:
I just bought a coral beauty because it practically glowed in the dark. It has been active, eating and out and about. Looking good. Had him/her for about 1 week so far. (I already know they can pick on corals. So far so good. We'll see.) Lil bugger seems to have a death wish though with the anemone. Swims very close. Seems to be tempting fate. I'm calling him/her Evil Kenievel (sp?)
