| Tunicate | losing fish Hello Everyone, I seem to be losing my fish. The tank is doing wonderful as far as all the coral are concerned. It all seemed to start when I lost a couple of clams. I started using alittle purpleup and aragamilk. I always tend to use smaller amounts than required. My fish seem to die the next morning and not all at once. All my inverts are doing good and the tank looks great with good coral growth. My nitrates seem to be staying alittle high but is that do to my losses. All fish were doing good until i added this stuff. Need some advice |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: losing fish How long has the tank been setup ? How big is the tank ? What are you using for filtration ? Can you list your parameters including cal/alk ? Do you quarantine your fish ? Have you noticed any odd behaviour or any white spots or swimming close to the surface labored breathing etc. ? I don't think purpleup and aragamilk is affecting your fish if anything your corals would be the first to let you know there's a problem.

| Tunicate | Re: losing fish I have a 180gal tank with live rock, skimmmer. It has been up and running for 9 months. All the parameters are right on,except the nitrate is running about 20 to 40 range. The cal is always around 400 to 450 and the alk is between 9 and 11.My ph does move around alittle from 7.8 to 8.2. NO white spots on fish andno laboring, but fish seem to be in trouble in morning. I did not quarantine new fish. I have lotsof corals, zoos, ricordios, brains, toadstool, montiporas, hammmers, torches, even an elegance and two anenomes and everything is growing wonderful. |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: losing fish Do you have any surviving fish ? The only thing that comes to mind that would be that deadly is marine velvet but there would be some obvious signs. If there is no fish left my suggestion would be to let the pathogen run it's course in a fallow tank for at least 4 weeks . BTW nitrates will NOT kill fish but will stress them if they're consistently high.

| Tunicate | Re: losing fish thanks, I had already decided to let the tank run for awhile without new fish. I still have a clown fish. But losing fish is frustrating. I thought if you could get corals to grow, the fish would at least be alittle easier as long as you did not add too many |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: losing fish My experience has been that corals are alot easier than fish especially if you don't quarantine all new additions.

| Bryozoan | Re: losing fish What fish have died? Newly added fish or old timers in the tank? How many fish have died? Over how long a period? You make the comment that all the fish were doing good until you added this stuff. I don't think I would add anymore of it until you can get a grip on what is happening in your tank that would affect your fish that way. Frank |
