So Nikki I take it that RTN sets in at a very high speed. So what are the main causes to this happening?

I have heard that this disease comes from some type of mouth/tongue contact by a very large predator that at times is very sneaky and hard to trace it once the damage is done!

The juvenile Homo sapiens seeks out the high sugar content of this coral. They find it palatable and irresistable, however, anyone keeping these juveniles should be aware that the nutritional content of said coral is very low. They would need supplemental feedings.

Actually, Johnny, in the younger stages it is quite easy to determine which juvenile inflicted the damage. There will be traces of the coral on the face and hands. Try not to be fooled by the innocent expression when asked, "what happened?".

LOL...karma back at ya

Nick,

No problem...I can handle your rabid squirrel. Look at what I had to wrestle in order to save one of my precious Candy Cane Corals....

OMG Nikki!
I hope you weren't torn from limb to limb in trying to save the coral. These must be very rare and special corals to risk your life for! I am so happy you are saving one for us! Be careful when protecting your canes we don't want to loose you.

Karma!!!!!!!!!

So that is what the predator looks like! A very rare sighting indeed! Sort of resembles a very unusual anenome of some sort and mouth is unusual shape and it has eyes!!! Wow! Even has the ability to come out of water!! That really bothers me!!

What size tank does that live in? And, what steps are you taking to protect your other fish, corals and family?

I am highly trained in handling this creature. I came away unscathed from our battle, however, trying to wrestle the candy cane away from the young human was a different story!

Karma to everyone!
