Lots of Macro Algae For Sale, Some new Goodies

We are pretty well stocked on algae now. 30 something species depending on the time you read this. You can check them all out here:

ReefCleaners.org | Clean Up Crews and Macro Algae - Plants and Macroalgae

We also added some food packages. Figured no on carries the diversity of algae we do, so me might as well provide some live food packs. Right now we have the live Gracilaria packages, but will be mixing in other species throughout the week. Diverse dried macro algae will be available soon as well. Also got a good price on Mysis Shrimp we get from a high quality aquaculture source.

We are happy to sponsor 21 forums at the moment, but we aren't the only ones moonlighting elsewhere apparently.

Are you still doing the $5 shipping? How much for the mysis?

Re: Lots of Macro Algae For Sale, Some new Goodies

Thanks you lcstorc!

Had to stop that one SeahorseBt. (Spring/Summer shipping is only $7.50 though) It was a bad idea actually, still limping away from that one.

The mysis are $6 an ounce, we are going to offer bagged and vacuum sealed mysis later that come with a better price. Right now we are paying a bit for the bottles because we are not buying them by the thousands, and we are getting bottles with good oxygen, moisture and carbon dioxide barriers. (No point in getting a high quality food like mysis in a low quality bottle right?). Will probably get some larger ones next round, get the best bottles money can buy and then sell vacuum sealed refills. Never understood bottles that after the seal is broken no longer protect the food from oxidization. Considering the value aquarists put on cartenoids, and other valuable food ingredients that readily oxidize I think this will be an area where we can improve upon what is regularly available. Plus it will become a necessity, we will begin offering "tossed" mysis, that will powdered with pure Astaxanthin and Spirulina. Regular jars just won't cut it or you will lose a lot of the values of the Astaxanthin especially. The cost of the additives will drive up the mysis to about the price of the major brand as sold by the major supplier, but will be a better product. The pure mysis will be the same product, in a better bottle and hopefully 10% less in price. So more to come, we are just trying to get a feel for what sizes people would like, ounce seems the most popular now. Most companies either sell 1 oz mysis or 1 oz net with 25 grams mysis, so that is what we started with. Larger volumes we will offer will be a much better value.

Sorry John, I misunderstood you. I thought you meant live mysis.

Re: Lots of Macro Algae For Sale, Some new Goodies

oops sorry, mysis is freeze dried. the tang pack is live, and we will be adding more of those type of foods. Cost to much to ship live mysis and feeder shrimp. To give you an idea, the grass shrimp that are the natural prey of seahorses like H. erectus need so much water weight couldn't ship 200 for less than $180. We would do that before mysis though.
