To me it looks like cotton you see growing in cotton fields.
I would call it "pink cotton patch algae".

Im going with yarn algae, it looks like yarn when it is all worn and frayed.

cotton does look like it now that you mention it. Is that color pink? Looks red to me, and the color is pretty accurate now that I am comparing them. Maybe I need to get my eyes checked.

looks really light pink to me, but dont forget everyones eyes are different and red to someone is pink to others

What about Fluffy Algae? Thats what came to my head at first. Or just a simple Pink Algae?
