little red fuzzy things

These look pretty cool, but I'd like to know what they are. I was thinking maybe the little hairs are part of how it filters food out of the water?

Looks to be a commonly found Foraminiferan, which as you already guessed, trap/catch food and detritus as it passes by in the water flow.
