| Serpent Star | Got my Mantis spotted my hitchhiker Mantis Shrimp in a piece of rock, I quickly crabed that piece of rock and isolated it in a empty tank. Now I would turf the rock to get rid of the Mantis but it has lps corals on it so any suggestions how to get him out? I have heard of using club soda? But if it works to get him out of the rock what next just rinse it off with water and out back in tank??? Thanks for any suggestions |

| Achilles Tang | Re: Got my Mantis The method that worked well for me while keeping the rest of the life on the rock: Block all holes in the rock except for the mantis's main entry and exit Put a long 3/8" or similarly sized vinyl tube at the back exit, as tight against the rock as you can get it Take a small 1/4" tube and stick it in the entrance and blow air into it It may take awhile because the mantis will know its trapped, but it should eventually decide the tube at the back is better than the air coming in the front. Once it goes into the vinyl tube, it won't be able to turn around and you can pull the tube out with the mantis in it. Or you can try the high SG dip, that worked for me once (but didn't work several other times). You may get lucky ![]()
